How the Chinese celebrate birthday

It is good dating someone from a different background, you get to learn and know the habits, culture of another country. Tony and I are both Chinese the only different is I’m a Malaysian Chinese and he the authentic Chinese lol. Although we are both Chinese, but still there are so many things different in terms of culture and the way we do things. Now I realise I’m so not Chinese at all. In other word, the Malaysian Chinese are much more westernize.

I have been in Australia for so long, as much as I like to eat chicken feet I have never ever bought it once from the market as I don’t know how to cook it. Yesterday, was my first time buying chicken feet from the market as Tony’s mum wanna to cook for this birthday dinner as entrĂ©e. Luckily enough we have Asian grocery store near my work place, if not where can you buy chicken feet.

2nd, Malaysian don’t eat dumplings as often, but the Chinese loves dumpling A LOT .Now I know, Tony is not the only one that loves dumpling in fact everyone loves eating dumpling. Not sure why I hardly sees Mandy and Vivi eating dumpling! Anyway, ever since going out with Tony, I sort of got influenced by him. I started eating dumplings more frequent than ever. I believe in the past 3 months, I have eaten more dumplings than the past 7 years in Australia.(ps:I even look up the internet wanan to learn how to make Xiao long bao!).

we had steamboat and korean bbq for Tony's Birthday.Unfortunately,i dint manage to get a picture of the chicken feet and dumplings.

The birthday cupcakes baked by me:)

It was a good meet up with all his friends.Tony is pretty much like me as we both have a group of close friends in church .These people are like our sisters and brothers which I don’t think we can depart from each other! Hopefully in the weeks to come, he can get the chance to meet up with the LSCC group.(Especially our ladies group lol)

Mid week of Nov 2015

This week has been rather exciting for me as i finally changed my phone.Had a huge jump of upgrade from iphone 4s to a 6 plus! the moment im on 6 plus and when i look back at my old phone,in my mind i was thinking wow how did i even survive on a small phone for so long. All these while i was streaming online drama using a small phone:) Anyway i still love my 4s .it has been with me for almost 4 years and it didn't really give me any problem until recently. Hopefully this 6 plus will treat n serve me well too.

Meanwhile,im counting down my days to Malaysia.Im so excited for it as this is my surprise trip home.i wonder how would mum and dad react when they see me at the gate.cant wait to see my little brother Matthew and his new brother(new family member -Dog :Wenger)

Ending the blog with a picture of me and Tony - our face time picture.Miss him so much as i haven't been seeing him the entire week. What a busy man! Luckily, thanks to technology, i can now see him through video call.Seriously cant imagine how people in the olden days feel.having to wait for snail mail for months and months.

Loving this pic a lot!

I have been MIA for abit lately due to super packed schedule juggling between work and studies.Putting that aside, there a new change in my life.I think i have found' my partner in crime' (Mr Panda-nick name)

For those who have known me for sometime, i have never been going out with anyone. There might been a few occasions i went on the so called dates but things never seem to work out for many reasons.

I would have to say it is really amazing how i meet Mr Panda. You can say is friend intro or in the more traditional saying it was actually a blind date.To be honest i have never placed much expectation during our first meet up.In fact,i even brought Mandy along with me during our first meet up because to me it was just getting to know a new friend/brother in Christ.

I suppose things always happen when you least expect it.Our first meet up was quite casual like anything other normal dinner. The good thing about it was we dint feel any awkwardness during the dinner. Maybe because of that, that leads to more dinners and catch ups and eventually it became an official date.

There is something very special about Mr.Panda.Whenever i am with him i feel very comfortable as if i have known him for ages.I have never felt this way before apart from hanging with all my friends which i have known for years. To me,i always thought when you see the person you like, you will have the butterflies in your stomach. But towards Mr Panda, calmness and comfortable are the two words i can use to describe it.

I haven really known Mr Panda long enough to say he is the 'ONE' right now.But one thing for sure because of him i learn to spend more time with God,reading his word seeking him (I guess this the sign that shows this should be the right person). As our goal is to build a godly family and it all should start by reading the word.

Just like Adrian once mentioned to me,if you find the one that really loves you.He will loves you for everything you do and the way you are! now i can truly understand what it means.

I truly believe it is all about God's timing. When the time is right ,things happened like the flash light without any signs. He makes the impossible into possible.Just keep praying and asking unceasingly.Just a word of encouragement, He will give at the right time.If at the point of time, you really wanted something badly but it wasn't given just remember he has something better in store for you.You just need to wait for it.

J & J (Joan and Johnny's wedding)

what a busy weekend for the past 3 days.I was seriously dead tired towards the end of Sunday evening.

A great hens night party at 200 neo apartment in the city. All thanks to the lovely ladies .Im seriously getting more and more ideas after attending so many hens and weddings lately. The first hens i organised 3 years ago for Stepy would consider as a failure after attended so many beautiful and creative  hens.Im felt sorry for Step for not being able to organize a better hens for her.I wish i would have done better !

We had so much fun at the hens, apart from celebrating the last few nights for the bride. We got to know some of the bride.s close friends from different countries! It was amazing how a party can pull  off so successfully just by communicating through whatspp. Social media can really do wonders!

The wedding on Sunday was held in Gum Gully Farm at mount dandenong. .I would say this is a multinational wedding .The broom(Johnny) was originally from shanghai,so lots of his relatives traveled all the way from china for the wedding. Was interesting to see vow and speeches being translated in mandarin by translator.

The couple has really raised the bar for wedding! from decorations to food, every little details were well organised! Lots of hard work being done by the bride.Although we are in the decor team, but the ideas and materials were all prepared by the bride herself ! Overall, the Wedding portrayed the character of the couple - fun and relaxing. I will let the the pictures do the remaining talking..

The above pic taken from someone's instagram.Beautiful bride.Good Job Shannon for capturing such a nice pic!

The guest waiting for the arrival of bride before the ceremony

a photo with the lucky man of the day

This is one of the most interesting part of the wedding. As the couple are both movie lovers. The team has organised games related to movie scene. The couple has to mimic the kissing scene from different movies we have chosen.Pic above is the notebook.

Last but not least,my Polaroid pic with the pretty and cute bride of the day!

We went over to Brenda's house for dinner last night.Brenda just recently got redundant after working 9 years in an architecture firm.Brenda said she didn't know she was well paid and look after in the firm till she lost the job.Part of the reason she was redundant is because she didn't wanna to drag into the admin team as she thought with her skills and qualification doing admin work its just under utilizing her skill.I totally understand where aunt is coming from.she holds a master qualification asking her to do a no brainer job such as customer service its kinda of insulting .

Well ,we all know that its not easy to get a proper corporate job..if you currently holding a job you are indeed blessed! We all need to stop the mentality of complaining we are under paid, worked over time, company dint provide  sufficient entitlements and etc.. instead we should embrace the attitude of praising and thanks giving!

Something i have learned is never ever compare yourselves with others who are better than you.the more you compare the more bitterness you will accumulate inside you.Instead, treasure what you have right and place your trust in God.

Yesterday at work i had a chat with two of my female colleagues. They are both at their early thirties and one of them just had a baby 8 months ago so the whole solid 20 minutes conversation was revolving around babies and pre/post natal pregnancy.

Right now im at the stage where all my friends/peers getting engaged or get married! I told Jo last night,oh this fri im going for a hen's night party and on Sunday i have a wedding to attend. The first response by Jo was,u have been to countless of hens night, when is yours coming? LoL.I dnt know! not sure will it even come true in 5 years time! Its kind of worry me sometimes,to see the progress of my friends around me going into rs,getting engaged ,married and have babies...etc..

Anyway,  I'm counting the days to Japan .2 more weeks,2 more weekends and i m flying off....im excited not because i want to see the shrines or soak in an onsen but the things that makes me looking forward is actually their food and cosmetic drugstore .Im so going to bring my empty luggage and buy as much as possible !  This shall be my first shopping holiday in a really long time as in recent years i have always go on beach vocation ,get tan and relax on the white sand the whole day and not really doing anything.

Easter Weekend

I seriously cant  believe 4 days of Easter holiday just passed  so quickly.Just a quick update on what I've been doing during the short break.

Thursday, was the most fun night ever! We went clubbing at crown. Was my first time to crown club.Seriously,i didn't expect it to be so fun! got to meet a few new friends, more importantly i saw my uni-mates there. Can you believe it,i haven't seen him for like 3 years after uni and the place we bumped into each other is in a club..tbh anywhere is better than seeing ur long lost friends in a club!

I always have good self- control upon myself when  going to club or bar.Its to avoid myself from doing stupid things which i would regret later on..I do admit on Thursday night  i did feel tipsy half of the night  and allowing myself to go loose. Dont worry guys, nothing serious happened,i just did something i wont have done when im conscious. Maybe this is part of the reason it was more fun than usual. lol.

our new party fried from church-Amanda

I did some baking on Sat night too.It was to bring to church on Sunday.

Butter muffin with white chocolate topped with apple cinnamon popcorn.

Last but not least, thanks Adrian for treating my cousin and i a wonderful dinner feast at Pacific Ocean at South Yarra. The duck tastes super yummm

Fist attempt of making Big Breakfast

I have been anti social for a bit..havent really posted anything on instagram .Moreover,it has been hard to drag me out anywhere.I just feel like rushing home after work or any social activities(Church).I'm not sure why,but i do feel comfortable staying at home resting, have my own sweet time doing some personal things.

Oh...need to show you guys my first attempt of making brunch. To be honest ,im not satisfy with it.It didn't turn out what i expected it to be:(

I wanted to make a stack/tower breakfast but to me it doesn't look like a one plus the decor is not up to the standard. There is still so much to improve on:(:(  How/when  cant i make pretty breakfast like those that serve in the cafe??

Hannah's own creation

Life Thoughts

I literally spent my entire weekend over at Jw and Krystle's house.Really appreciate their generosity and kindness for allowing me to stay over every Friday night after youth. Because of that we get to know each other more and more.Bonding time its all you need to build a strong foundation of friendship!

Last weekend, the youth including me were so obsess with the new game resistance.(A similar version to Mafia game)The game really helps to motivate those shy or quiet people to speak up and contribute some info towards the game. This game requires many skills such as  logical deduction ,team work, and more importantly it portrays on how you should carry out your duties and characters.

To bring this game to real life,i think it does happen in the real world, especially when you are working in an office environment.I come to realization because recently  i was kinda force to decide who or whose instructions to listen. Its so hard to decide when both of them are the bosses in the company.Stepping the tail of anyone of them will just bring harm upon myself :( Really need wisdom to make the right decision.

Second thought i have here is ,why cant people be more forgiving especially the christian guys.not talking about adrian teo just in case you are being over sensitive.lol. All of us were all brought up in a christian family since young, and we were all taught to be forgiving like how Christ forgives us.Why cant we pass on what we have received and  treat others the same? We are all human ,not saints, people do mistake or silly things but i do think and strongly believe they should deserve a second chance.Plus, the things they done didn't even bring harm or much damages. Why should we be so revengeful and remember the bad things . Everyone should be given an opportunity to turn over a new leaf.If we are all judged just based on one little mistake or accident we done,we dont deserve to be called God's people.

Birthday Celebrations 2015

I cant believe it is almost halfway through the month of Feb! Time really waits for no man.If you don’t organise your time well, you’ll just wasted another hour, day, month and year!

Ok, let me start the year blogging my 26th birthday. Did I say 26??? Oh gosh, im slightly over the mid 20s.Im getting more and more worried of being single, ageing and etc..

Again when you start working, birthday is just another day. No biggie, No more big celebrations. All you want is just an intimate dinner with some close friends. Well, Im lucky to be able to pick my own cake at work. After going for a year of baking school ofc I have high expectations for cakes. So guess what, I picked a raspberry mousse cake from Laurent..By far one of the prettiest cakes I ever had!

cake that work got me

Veryn has the same birthday as me..so that night we have a duo birthday celebration at Paradise Road in Glenny.I believe Veryn had a great night spending her birthday with us! The funniest part is when she received her Swarovski necklace we got her. She said ‘I have to protect my neck whenever I wear the necklace’.Lol.  As for me, seeing Veryn enjoying her birthday somehow makes me happy or satisfied. Not sure what is the word to describe how I felt.  All I can conclude is indeed giving is better than receiving..

the girls that spent the night with us

Veryn n i with our cute chocolate mud cake

Birthday celebration didn’t just quite end on 30 Jan. On the following weekend, aunt and the family had another mini celebration for me. Aunt made a korea feast for me. I know im bless.Thank God for family and homemade mealJ.
